Selena Gomez reveals shocking truth about her early career

Selena Gomez, a well-known name in the world of music and acting, recently talked about her early career.

Gomez illuminated The Hollywood Reporter’s Award Chatter podcast with her appearance on November 25, which was recorded in front of an audience at Chapman University.

The 32-year-old star shared that people often confused her with her TV character when she was starting out, explaining why it did not bother her when people confused her with Alex Russo, her character from the Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place.

Gomez said, “We would do our tapings for Wizards in front of a live audience every Friday night. And that was the biggest high I could ever get. It was the coolest feeling to make a kid laugh uncontrollably because it’s pure.”

“I mean, I’ve had kids come up to me, and they only know me as Alex. You know? And they’ll have full conversations like, ‘Where’s your wand?'” the Only Murders in the Building star revealed.

Gomes added by saying, “I think that’s probably a moment I’ll never forget where I recognised we had this influence to make people and kids feel good.”

For the unversed, the A Year Without Rain hitmaker returned to play her character again in the first episode of the new show, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, which aired on October 29, 2024.

She is also serving as one of the executive producers, working alongside her former TV brother, David Henrie.

While conversing with People magazine in September this year, Henrie remarked, “It was a dream come true. [She] and I have kept in such good contact and remain good friends.”

It is pertinent to mention that Wizards of Waverly Place ran for four seasons from 2007 to 2012 before returning with its sequel, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, this year.
