Cher just recalled her relationship with the KISS rock star, Gene Simmons.
The 78-year-old actress, who recently launched her bombshell autobiography, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, revealed that the Detroit Rock City singer confessed his love for the Believe hitmaker after their first date!
She revealed that the pair had met at a reception for Gerald Ford, being hosted by her record label head, Neil Bogart.
As she was introduced to Simmons, Cher first mistook that she might be meeting the British actress Jean Simmons, however, after meeting the rock star, the Goddess of Pop admitted being “impressed” by him.
He drove Cher back home and then went on a date the following night, to a Tubes concert where Simmons flirted with the After All crooner and her friend.
The 72-year-old called her to “apologize” the next day, to which Cher told Simmons that neither she nor her friend were interested in him.
“That’s when he blurted out that he loved me,” Cher writes in her book, adding, “We hadn’t even kissed. We’d only been out once before he left. What is it with these men?”
For the unversed, the Proud Mary singer dated Gene Simmons from 1977 to 1979, after her split from Gregg Allman. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Cher mentioned that it was “the best relationship I’ve ever had with a human being.”
