James Van Der Beek is thanking his loved ones for their “unconditional love” this Thanksgiving following his shock cancer diagnosis. 

Taking to his Instagram handle on Thursday, the 47-year-old actor posted a touching image of himself with his wife and their children, along with an emotional note.

In the post’s caption, James expressed gratitude to his “super human” wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, and their children for keeping him “present, active, and inspired.”

“It’s been a tough year… and I’m thankful for all of it. For the giant life re-direct cancer has placed in my path,” he began the lengthy note.

The Dawson’s Creek star further wrote, “For the gift of knowing what it feels like to have friends come through on such a profound level, and in ways I never would have been able to ask for had I not been going through it,”

“I’m grateful for this new relationship I have to my body, and what I feed it,” continued the actor. “I’m grateful to each and every one of you who has reached out and sent good vibes and prayers. It all lands and makes a difference.’

Thanking his wife Kimberly, James wrote, “And I’m more grateful than ever to my super human wife who has shown up on levels I never knew possible. Who has shown me what unconditional love is and the magic that comes from that. I am in awe of you, @vanderkimberly.’

Lastly, the star thanked his kids, penning, “Of course, I’m beyond thankful for the little blond army of hearts who keep me present, active, and inspired just by being you. I love you guys beyond.:

For those unversed, James married Kimberly in 2010, and the couple has six children – daughters Olivia, 14, Annabel, 10, Emilia, 8, and Gwendolyn, 6, and sons Joshua, 12, and Jeremiah, 2.
