Dick Van Dyke appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on December 5, sharing humor and reflections as he approaches his 99th birthday on December 13.

Van Dyke, known for iconic roles in Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, joined Coldplay’s Chris Martin to discuss their collaboration on the brand’s All My Love music video, in which Van Dyke stars.

While playfully poking fun at his age, Van Dyke joked, “I’m old enough to be Joe Biden’s father,” and quipped about occasional memory lapses by saying, “Right now, I think I’m on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.”

According to People, Chris Martin highlighted a touching moment on set when Van Dyke’s 73-year-old son Barry asked to use the pool slide, describing the interaction as heartwarming.

In regards to this, Martin joked, “They’re collectively 176 years old.”

Moreover, Van Dyke also reflected on his seven-decade career, which includes recent accolades like winning a 2024 Creative Arts Emmy for his 98th birthday special.

Despite outliving many peers, he noted that he is grateful for the enduring love for his family and fans.

Meanwhile, he told the outlet by crediting his wife, Arlene Silver, for keeping spirits high, “Every day is a celebration.”

Furthermore, Van Dyke plans to celebrate his milestone birthday surrounded by loved ones, continuing to inspire with his humor, humility and resilience.
