Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are set to star in Emerald Fennell’s upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, taking on the iconic roles from the 1800s classic.

The highly-anticipated film, which is an adaptation of Emily Bronte’s novel of the same name, will serve as the second collaboration with MRC studio and LuckyChap after the success of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

The project sparked a bidding war between Warner Bros. studio and Netflix, with the streaming app offering a whopping $150 million for the film.

However, the Wuthering Heights filmmakers accepted Warner Bros’ $80 million bid, opting for a worldwide theatrical release.

Meanwhile, Fennell previously wrote in the Los Angeles Times column, “I’ve always been obsessed with the gothic.”

“It’s a genre where comedy and horror, revulsion and desire, sex and death are forever entwined, where every exchange is heavy with the threat of violence, or s** or both.”

Robbie is set to portray the groundbreaking role of Catherine Earnshaw, while Elordi will play the role of Heathcliff. Rounding out the cast are Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, and Shazad Latif.
