King Charles and Prince William are secretly struggling for control of monarchy as Prince of Wales prepares for his future role.
According to an insider, a rift is emerging between the monarch and William as they both hold different views on how the monarchy should be run.
Speaking with New Idea Magazine, an insider revealed that William and his wife, Kate Middleton, are preparing for a modern reign, which is causing tension with Charles.
They claimed that the King wants to ensure his legacy is preserved. However, his cancer diagnosis has prompted William’s team to finalize plans for his future reign.
“The longevity of the monarchy relies on its popularity with its subjects,” the insider said. “William, like his mother Princess Diana before him, has always enjoyed public approval and affection.”
“And Charles is well aware that some wanted the line of succession to skip him entirely when Queen Elizabeth II died, with William crowned as King instead,” they added. “He was deeply hurt by that chatter.”
Citing Us Weekly, the publication revealed that William’s team has been making plans of him taking over the monarchy ever since Charles was diagnosed of cancer.
“William and Catherine are preparing to run a modern reign when the time comes – and Charles knows it,” the insider said.
“He wants his son to be ready, but he doesn’t want his legacy to be swept away either. It’s a delicate situation.”
