Ben Affleck recently got candid and revealed a “bombshell” truth pertaining to his marriage with Jennifer Garner.
According to KOIMOI, while taking into account his marriage with Garner, Affleck confessed that there were greater chances that he would “still be drinking” if he had not separated from her.
Articulating his thoughts about the feeling of being “stuck” in a marriage, the Dare Devil star said, “We probably would’ve ended up at each other’s throats,” and “I’d probably still be drinking.”
The 52-year-old filmmaker went on to say that he started drinking “because I was trapped.”
Expanding on this, he shared that the “responsibility of being a parent” was “overwhelming” and felt like he could not leave because of the “kids” and had to stay “unhappy” in the relationship.
Moving forward, Affleck did not blame Garner; rather, he respected their efforts despite the struggles they faced by saying, “We tried for the kids. She’s someone I love and respect, but we shouldn’t be married.”
“I knew she was a good mum. I always hoped she knew I was a good dad,” the Dogma star concluded by saying.
For the unversed, the couple who appeared together in movies including Pearl Harbor and Daredevil got engaged in April 2005 and tied the knot in Turks & Caicos in June the same year.
However, after being married for almost a decade, the pair decided to get separated in June 2015, while their divorce was finalised in October 2018.
It is noteworthy to mention that Affleck and Garner are blessed with three kids together, namely Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
