Bruno Mars just revealed his real name!
Fans of the iconic artists would be shocked to know that the name he went with has never been his real one all along.
After producing a string of hits like Grenade, Treasure and The Lazy Song, the singer revealed on The Graham Norton Show, that he had been performing under a pseudonym throughout his career.
“Bruno Mars, and this will surprise you that I’ve done this much research, I hear it’s not your real name,” the host mentioned.
To which, Bruno chuckled and admitted, “It’s not my real name.”
He then opened up about the origin of his famous name that defined his music career, revealing it was linked to his childhood memories.
Bruno Mars, who was born with the name, Peter Gene Hernandez, said: “I was a chubby baby and there was a wrestler in my dad’s day named Bruno Sammartino, and he was a stocky guy and I used to walk around like a little bulldog my dad said, so he’d always call me Bruno Sammartino.”
And even though the selection of the name Bruno is quite evident, the origin of Mars still buzzed questions before he himself clarified, “joking around in the studio” was what led to a spin over the wrestler’s surname.
Bruno Mars jokingly said that it was “girls saying I’m out of this world.”
“I felt like I didn’t have no pizzazz, and a lot of girls say I’m out of this world, so I was like I guess I’m from Mars,” the Uptown Funk singer further explained.
