Charli XCX just got candid about her collaboration with Lorde on the song, Girl, So Confusing.
Recalling how she solved a rather “tricky situation” with fellow artist, speaking to Variety, the 32-year-old revealed that the two of them were able to fix some “public misunderstandings” via their collaboration.
As she discussed how fearful she was that the track might just end their friendship, Charli XCX said, “For Girl, So Confusing, the second I wrote it I was like, ‘I need Ella [Lorde] to be on a remix of this song,’ But I didn’t know how to approach it because obviously it’s a tricky situation.”
The Speed Drive hitmaker continued, “And when I finally did, she actually suggested, ‘Maybe I should do a verse.’ Within 24 or 48 hours she came back with that incredible verse, which made me really, really emotional.”
Charli XCX feared that the Solar Power singer would “never speak” to her again after failing to tell her about the song, Girl, So Confusing.
She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that she didn’t Lorde of the song, that is speculated to be about their relationship, until the day before its release.
