Cynthia Erivo wouldn’t prefer anyone else getting casted as Glinda in Wicked.

“Thank goodness, because it was not the two ladies that I was auditioning with,” Erivo told the New York Times expressing gratitude when asked about her feelings about the pop superstar’s casting.

In another interview published on Wednesday, The We Can’t Be Friends singer shared similar sentiments about Cynthia.

“Thank God,” Ariana remembered her reaction to the news of herself and Erivo being announced as Glinda and Elphaba, respectfully.

Since being cast in Wicked in 2021, Ariana, 31, and Cynthia, 37, seem to have developed a close friendship as they bring the beloved musical to life.

Speaking with The New York Times, the co-stars reflected on how their bond has grown through the production, noting that their days off have often been spent together. The pair shared that they enjoy stopping by each other’s homes, going shopping, and even getting tattoos.

“I think that was one of my most cherished parts of this experience: I felt held and like I had a friend every step of the way,” the Positions hitmaker explained.

“I’m really proud of us for how genuinely we took care of each other throughout this whole time.”
