Coffee, snow, and a random Kirk — the perfect ingredients for a Gilmore Girls reunion, this time featuring Luke and Lorelai.
Teaming up for a festive new Walmart ad released December 3, Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson returned to Stars Hollow to bring their characters Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes to life again.
The ad, which celebrates the season of giving, features Kirk delivering a Walmart package to Luke, who gifts Lorelai a Keurig to keep up with her insatiable coffee cravings, joking that she’s “drinking him out of business.” And of course, the spot wouldn’t be complete without Lorelai marveling at the snow: “I smell snow!”
When asked about their characters’ lives post-Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Graham, 57, told People magazine she imagines things haven’t changed much. “I don’t think Lorelai left the country to find herself or anything,” she joked. “She’s probably running an inn — or maybe a second inn — and hitting Luke’s up every day for her coffee unless she’s using that thoughtful Keurig.”
She added, “That’s what I would want from where they are today is pretty much in the same place.”
Patterson, 66, agreed, adding that the duo’s charm lies in their consistency. “They’ll get older, but we can rely on them not to change.”
