Jude Law is set to appear in The Order. He said the director Justin Kurzel told him to be on his co-star Nicholas Hoult’s tail for this film.
The idea, the Marvel star said, was for the preparation for his upcoming crime thriller, where he played an FBI agent tasked with investigating a white supremacist terrorist group.
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, he shared the details, saying the filmmaker liked to give his actors “little manifestos” before filming begins to “more fully consider the mindset and lifestyle of a character.”
Jude recalled that his memo was simple: follow his fellow actor for a day and note down his activities.
“It’s hard,” he said of the task, adding, “very rewarding. It’s symbolic of the kind of director he is, how he builds the relationship with the actor.”
“And ultimately the character, and how he can then use that on the set. There was such an intuitive sense between the two of us of who Husk was by the time we started to film.”
Earlier, Nicholas also reflected on the extreme way of preparation for the forthcoming film, “I’ve never prepared in this way before, where Justin gave us tasks.”
He told the Venice Film Festival, “he found out on the boat here that one of Jude’s tasks was to follow” him for the day. “But he was trailing me for a day, and I didn’t know about it.”
