King Charles has apparently made his final decision on abdication amid growing calls to step down over health concerns.
According to a report by Us Weekly, King Charles elder son and heir to throne Prince William, meanwhile, “is preparing behind the scenes for when his ascension happens.”
The outlet, citing a royal source, claimed King Charles has apparently rejected the calls for his abdication as the king ‘wanted to be the monarch for decades.’
The insider said, “Even though he’s battling cancer, he’s not letting that get in the way of his desire to be successful on the throne or a dynamic leader.”
However, the report went on saying, citing another source, in many ways, King Charles and Prince William are closer than ever — but their relationship has also become significantly more complicated as tension over the Prince of Wales approaching succession builds.
“The dynamics have shifted,” the insider shared with the Us Weekly, adding “Like his father, Prince William takes being a success in the royal role very seriously.”
The outlet further says the source has claimed William is likely being briefed on things like constitutional matters, government relations and state affairs, as well as transitioning titles and responsibilities as the Prince of Wales is preparing for the future role.
