Lily Allen has reportedly sought treatment at a high-end trauma center in the U.S., following the collapse of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
Sources close to the 39-year-old star revealed that her mental health deteriorated after she returned to the couple’s New York home last week, months after their separation in December.
According to Daily Mail, Allen is said to have felt “triggered” by memories of her estranged husband while staying at their Brooklyn townhouse, sparking an emotional breakdown.
In regards to this, a source stated, “It was very painful for Lily to return home. David used to be her source of support, but now the thought of him being with someone else in the city is unbearable.”
Moreover, the couple’s five-year relationship ended amid allegations that Harbour had reactivated his profile on the celebrity dating app Raya.
Additionally, he was reportedly seen with a mystery woman at a temple in India, just as his stepdaughters, Ethel and Marnie, had expected him to join them on a holiday in Kenya.
Following these events, Allen has checked into a private wellness retreat, where she will undergo intensive therapy to address her emotional struggles.
As per the publication, her treatment includes group counseling, individual therapy sessions, and a regimen of healthy living and outdoor activities.
Friends of the Smile singer are hopeful that the program will help her recover as one insider shared, “Lily is taking the responsible step of prioritizing her mental health, especially for the sake of her daughters. This has been a deeply painful time for her.”
Meanwhile, Harbour has been seen in New York spending time with close friend Scarlett Johansson, fueling further media speculation.
Furthermore, Allen has been open about her struggles during the separation, candidly discussing her emotional turmoil on her podcast Miss Me?.
In recent episodes, she admitted feeling “on the edge of a nervous breakdown” and struggling to focus on anything other than her pain, as per the outlet.
