During the Los Angeles premiere on Monday, the Normal People actor revealed how he and his castmate had a blast at a karaoke bar.

Although, the 28-year-old never liked karaoke before he admitted that he “enjoyed it” this time.

“I’ve walked myself into a corner with this because when I was doing press for Aftersun I was like, ‘I hate karaoke. I hate karaoke,’ Mescal told Variety Magazine.

“But I got roped into doing it, and I enjoyed it,” he added.

The All of Us Strangers star revealed that he sang his own version of Miley Cyrus’ The Climb, while admitting that he is a big fan of the popstar.

Even though Mescal failed to hit the notes, he still enjoyed the experience.

“I was drunk. It was great. It’s not about that — it’s about the spirit,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hechinger belted out his rendition of Shania Twain’s You’re Still the One.

Reviewing his drunk performance, Hechinger told the outlet, “I think karaoke is built for people who don’t have voices. I think if you have too good of a voice, it’s embarrassing for you to do karaoke.”

Talking to Entertainment Weekly about his time in Japan during the London premiere, Mescal admitted, “Karaoke’s not my go-to generally, I feel like I was caught in a very vulnerable moment, but happy I did it.”
