Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, have shared joyous news following their recent appearance on the balcony during the Trooping the Colour ceremony.
Marking their 25th wedding anniversary, the couple revealed a beautiful new portrait. This special photograph, taken by Chris Jelf on June 10th in the gardens of Bagshot Park, captures Edward and Sophie beaming with happiness.
Edward and Sophie, who have become trusted confidants of King Charles and are considered pivotal figures in the royal family, celebrated their milestone on June 19th, 2024. They married on June 19, 1999, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Sophie, the daughter of a car tyre dealer and a receptionist, has been a beloved member of the royal family since their wedding.
In the portrait, Sophie is dressed in a stylish tan suede jacket, complementing Edward’s tweed gilet. She completed her look with a striped t-shirt and green trousers, while Edward donned a white full-sleeved shirt and blue trousers.
The portrait follows their significant presence at the annual Trooping the Colour balcony event, where they were joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
A Royal Correspondent for The Daily Beast noted, “Edward and Sophie’s loyalty has earned them a place in the royal inner circle. They bridge the generations and will play a vital role in King William’s reign.”
