Prince Harry is reportedly maintaining ties with the Royal Family by purchasing a home in Portugal, which could serve as a pathway to reconnecting, according to royal expert Hugo Vickers.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have acquired a lavish property in Alentejo, located near Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank. This move follows their visit to the area last September after the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Vickers emphasised the importance of Harry’s relationship with his cousin, suggesting that fostering connections between their children could provide a meaningful link to royal life.

With Harry and Meghan’s children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, being close in age to Eugenie’s sons, August, three, and Ernest, one, he believes their friendship could facilitate future bonds with Prince William and Princess Kate’s children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

In a conversation with The Sun, Vickers expressed his concern that Archie and Lilibet might one day realize their cousin is destined to be King of England, an acknowledgment he finds bittersweet. He stated, “It could be a very interesting extension to life, and so that could be a wonderful route in.”

Vickers also noted that Harry may reflect on what he has sacrificed by stepping back from royal duties and is likely to encourage his children to explore the same opportunities he had. He sees the proximity to Eugenie’s family as a valuable chance for all the children to grow up together, potentially bridging any gaps over time.

He added that Archie and Lilibet will ultimately form their own opinions about their royal connections as they mature. “The next generation often tries to mend the bridges,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of keeping lines of communication open.

Furthermore, Vickers highlighted Eugenie’s significance in Harry’s life, referring to her as a crucial figure from his past.
