Princess Diana spent her first Christmas after divorce from King Charles alone in Kensington Palace.
While her children were away with family at Sandringham in 2025, Diana slept through the day and took sleeping pills to keep her time going.
Diana’s friend and Royal expert, Richard Kay, reveals the former Princess of Wales did not spend much time with the Royals on Christmas even when she was married to King Charles.
She would leave early before Christmas lunch and avoided contact with any of the members.
He noted: “But she didn’t stay for lunch. Instead, she went home alone to Kensington Palace and spent the rest of the day there before flying to Washington to stay with friends”.
He added: “‘If I had been photographed as some sort of lady bountiful, my husband’s family would have been in uproar, accusing me of a stunt,’ she later confided.”
