Ridley Scott is an auteur in Hollywood, and when he gives a warning, he suggests he totally means it.
In an interview with GQ magazine, he says his earlier announced Bee Gees biopic at Paramount Pictures — set to go on the floors in early 2025 — faced roadblocks after he was at odds with the studio over the making.
“The deal — the studio changed the goalposts,” the Gladiator filmmakers adds. “I said, ‘You can’t do that.’ They insisted. I said, ‘Well, I’m going to warn you, I will walk, because I will go on to the next movie.’ They didn’t believe me, and I did.”
“I was being asked to go too far,” he continues. “And I said, ‘No. Next!’ They didn’t like my deal. So I said, I’ll move on. I’m expensive, but I’m ******* good.”
Despite this seeming impasse, Ridley said he is optimistic that an understanding will emerge with the studio soon.
In addition, a source close to the studio told Variety that the shooting of the film will start from a fall shoot.
