The royal family has released its first social media post as Kate Middleton and Prince William skipped the pre-Christmas lunch with King Charles at Palace.

The Prince and Princess of Wales did not attend the extended Royal Family lunch at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, however, it’s understood they are already in Norfolk and will join the family at Sandringham over Christmas.

Amid Kate and William’s shocking decision, the palace shared a video of Duchess Sophie and said, “From serving hot free meals and helping in the hygiene bank, to crafting with Ukrainian refugees and meeting local families, it was great to see the impact of @t.lighthouse firsthand.

“The Duchess of Edinburgh, as Patron, spent a day volunteering with the charity, which supports around 8,000 people each year with essentials like food and clothing, as well as wellbeing groups.”

The statement further reads, “The Lighthouse’s social enterprise café, The Cosy, even sells delicious homemade soup in jars with knitted cosies – an idea inspired by Her Royal Highness during a previous visit!.”
