Ryan Reynolds, American actor and filmmaker, recently got candid about his children’s upbringing away from the spotlight in a recent interview.
After winning the title as ‘Producer of The Year’ for his work in film and TV by The Hollywood Reporter, the Deadpool & Wolverine star opened up about his and wife, Blake Lively’s efforts on trying to give his children “as normal a life as possible”.
“I try not to impose upon them the difference in their childhood to my childhood or my wife’s childhood,” he told the outlet in interview on December 13th.
“We both grew up very working class, and I remember when they were very young, I used to say or think, like, ‘Oh God, I would never have had a gift like this when I was a kid,’ or, ‘I never would’ve had this luxury of getting takeout,’ or whatever.”
He added that he hopes to avoid letting his and Lively’s childhood experiences affect their children, saying, “that’s not really their bag of rocks to carry.”
Reynolds also praised his kids for their gratitude and empathy, “They’re already very much in touch with gratitude and understanding the world enough to have a strong sense of empathy.”
The Golden Globe nominee reflected on how their kids’ behavior towards others reassures him and Lively that they are doing an ‘ok job’ as parents.
Reynolds share four kids, James, nine, Inez, eight, and Betty, five, and Olin, born in 2023 with Blake Lively.
