As wildfires rage in Los Angeles, Severance makers have announced that the red carpet premiere of season two on Jan 13 will be cancelled.
Apple TV+ said in a statement, “As devastating wildfires continue to impact the Los Angeles area, and with safety as our first and foremost priority, we have made the decision to cancel Monday’s Severance season two premiere event.”
“Apple is donating to support the relief efforts on the ground and our thoughts and heartfelt support remain with everyone who has been affected by these tragic fires. Thank you for your understanding,” it concluded.
Earlier, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the California-based company “will be donating to support the victims and recovery efforts on the ground.”
Meanwhile, the premiere was scheduled at the TCL Chinese Theater, Hollywood Blvd.
In the meantime, Adrien Brody, who won a Best Actor award for The Brutalist at Critics Circle Award, paid tribute to the firefighters battling the raging wildfires in different parts of Los Angeles.
“I’m sorry it’s always so hard to accept something like this when there’s so much suffering in the world,” he shared.
“My heart goes out to all the families and the animals, and our colleagues,” the 51-year-old added. “Most of the homes on the west side, east side of PCH are gone, from Palisades on. This is our community.”
“I just want to thank and commend the bravery of the first responders and sacrifices and their meaningful work that deserves our recognition tonight,” he concluded.
