SZA, an American singer, gave her thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s latest album while making an appearance on the talk show Sherri.
Two of the songs on Lamar’s album, Luther and Gloria featured vocals from SZA.
She was asked if she would be open to doing a collaboration album with the rapper, to which she responded, “I would love that. I think that would be amazing. He’s such a genius and a part of his genius is being so elusive and so mysterious.”
Expressing her surprise at her vocals being included in the two tracks, she claimed, “When Luther came out, I said ‘OK — that’s the vocals we’re using, period. Same with Gloria, I said, ‘OK!'”
“That’s part of the fumbling and finding. I feel like he’s a huge part of my fumbling and finding era because I’m just trusting all of his expertise and being thrust into these moments and spotlight and saying ‘yes’,” she gushed.
SZA complimented Kendrick Lamar’s ability to be humble and expressed her desire to learn from him. “He’s so good at saying yes but staying grounded. Teach me, sensei, what you know.”
