Taylor Swift, who is famously known for writing breakup songs, has also allegedly played a role in providing a background track to fans’ breakups.
A Swiftie writer, Mary Honkus, made a surprising admission, revealing that she planned her breakup around the time Midnights was released.
According to Elite Daily magazine, “Many people listen to Taylor Swift to help them get over their long list of ex-lovers.”
“Swift’s music has played a major role in all of my heartbreaks,” Honkus writes.
“When my first boyfriend broke up with me over text, I sobbed as I listened to Last Kiss, thinking I’d never find someone to love me, twelve years later, her music inspired me to take things one step further,” she added.
“I planned a breakup around the release of Midnights, a decision that changed my life for the better.”
It appears that such experience is not that rare because other Swifties flocked to the comments to share similar stories.
One such fan penned, “1989 vault tracks singlehandedly got me through my break-up lol.”
Another wrote, “folklore helped me through heartbreak.”
Echoing the sentiment, others too shared their experiences, writing, “TTPD saved me since my break up of 7 years in July.”
“Her music allowed me to process my decayed marriage before I take the next step. So many tears poured from my soul, her music allowing me to slowly get back to who I was before the fall; it was rare, I was there, it was cathartic.”
And, “TTPD helped me finally break off an extremely toxic relationship..”
However, one social media user did not agree with the comments and took a dig at them by writing, “Please be serious.”
