Timothée Chalamet’s intense dedication to his role as Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown has been exposed by his co-stars, revealing the extreme lengths he went to in preparation for the role.
Monica Barbaro and Edward Norton, who star alongside Chalamet in the film, shared how the 28-year-old actor fully immersed himself in method acting, even going so far as to forbid any visitors during filming.
Describing his dedication, Norton, called it “relentless,” noting that no friends, family, or representatives were allowed to visit him on set.
“Nobody comes around us while we’re doing this,” he said, emphasizing the importance of preserving the purity of the process.
The star also shared that he and Timothée both felt the weight of portraying such an iconic figure, with Norton agreeing that the role required a serious, distraction-free environment.
Monica Barbaro, who portrays Joan Baez in the film, added that while Timothée wasn’t completely isolating, he stayed “in his own world” throughout filming.
“It wasn’t ‘Don’t look him in the eye’ or anything like that,” she explained.
“We said ‘hi,’ gave each other a hug. I was like, ‘I just saw Dune!’ But he did remain in character, and I think that dynamic really helped portray the relationship between Bob and Joan.”
